ABOUT KATIE
Katie Sowers first broke through the glass ceiling by becoming just the second woman hired to be a full-time NFL coach. She was signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an offensive assistant in 2017. Sowers also made history by revealing she was a lesbian to Outsports.com prior to the season. She first got an opportunity in coaching as an intern with the Atlanta Falcons in 2016. Sowers impressed then-Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, who hired her when he was named the 49ers head coach. Sowers played professional football and was a member of the U.S. women's national team. She spent time as an advisor to USA Football and as general manager of the Women's Football Alliance's Kansas City Titans.
